Why Tignes le Lac

Tignes le Lac sits at around 2,100 metres beside the lake and is the main hub of Tignes, linked with Val d'Isère to form the Espace Killy. The altitude is the point: it is one of the most snow-sure resorts in the Alps, with skiing that reliably runs from early season through to late spring.

Getting there

We drive to Tignes le Lac from Geneva, Lyon, Chambéry and Grenoble airports — see the table above for approximate times and prices. Like Val d'Isère, the route climbs from Bourg-Saint-Maurice, then turns up towards the Tignes lake. It is high, exposed road and the conditions can change quickly, so we watch the weather on the day of your transfer.

Good to know

Tignes is spread across several separate villages — Le Lac, Val Claret, Le Lavachet and Les Brévières — at different altitudes on the same road. Le Lac is the central one, but confirm which you are actually booked into and give us the residence name, because the difference between them is a real drive, not a short walk.
