Why Val d'Isère

Val d'Isère sits at 1,850 metres and shares the Espace Killy ski area with Tignes — high, reliably snow-sure terrain with a serious reputation for off-piste and a genuine village centre rather than a purpose-built one. The season runs long here, and the resort keeps its atmosphere well into spring.

Getting there

We drive to Val d'Isère from Geneva, Lyon, Chambéry and Grenoble airports — see the table above for approximate times and prices. The route runs through Bourg-Saint-Maurice and then climbs the Isère gorge on the RD902. It is a beautiful road and a demanding one in winter, which is exactly why we drive it with proper winter equipment and no schedule pressure.

Good to know

The village runs a long way along one main road, from La Daille through the centre up towards Le Fornet, so the drop-off point matters more than in a compact resort. Send us your exact address at booking. If you are arriving on a Saturday, expect the last stretch to be busier — we plan for it.
