Why Val Thorens
At 2,300 metres, Val Thorens is the highest ski resort in Europe and the most snow-sure address in Les 3 Vallées. It is a purpose-built, ski-in ski-out resort — almost everything is walkable and the lifts start where the accommodation ends — which makes it a favourite for groups who want to maximise time on snow.
Getting there
We drive to Val Thorens from Geneva, Lyon, Chambéry and Grenoble airports — see the table above for approximate times and prices. It is the longest climb in the Belleville valley, up past Les Menuires, and it is the transfer most affected by heavy snow. We monitor conditions on the day and leave margin rather than rushing the mountain road.
Good to know
The resort centre is largely traffic-restricted, so drop-off is usually at the resort entrance or a designated parking area close to your accommodation. Send us your exact address when you book and we will confirm the closest legal drop-off point in advance so nobody is walking further than they need to with luggage.
